Sharing sensitive material
If you’re sharing sensitive material, please assume that unencrypted email is not secure. For tips that require confidentiality, we accept Signal messages and encrypted email on request.
- Mention “sensitive” in your first message so we can move the conversation off email.
- Do not send confidential material from a work device or work network.
- We honor anonymity requests. Tell us up front if you do not want to be named.
- For physical material, ask first. Do not mail original documents that you need back.
